Embracing Our Differences
At Macy’s, diversity isn’t some quota. It’s who we are. In fact, diversity is a
big part of what makes our company work. When you join our team, we value the
aspects of your individuality and experiences that make you unique. After all,
we realize that our customers come from all walks of life. And we want a
workforce that reflects a full range of perspectives, tastes and preferences.
Even though Macy’s is focused on involving people rather than counting them, the
numbers demonstrate how diverse we are:
- About 48% of our associates are racial minorities and make up more than
one-third of our management teams.
- Women represent more than 75% of our workforce and hold over 65% of our
executive positions.
- Diversity extends to our suppliers, too. In 2008, our purchases from minority-
and women-owned businesses totaled approximately $548 million.
Being different together. That works for Macy’s. And we believe it will work for
you, too.
