Sustainability
Want to work for a company that works for the good of our planet? At Macy’s,
we’ll encourage you to join in a variety of actions that help us “walk the talk”
of living green.
It’s these practices that helped Macy’s earn a spot in the
Top 50 of Newsweek magazine’s
2009 "Green Rankings" List of 500 companies.
Newsweek noted Macy’s increased use of solar panels in our stores and the
significantly higher recycled paper content in our catalogs. And those are just
two ways we set goals and measure our successes in areas such as using less
energy, water and paper. In addition, whenever we can and still meet customer
expectations, Macy’s uses eco-friendly products – like shopping bags, gift
boxes, merchandise hangers and packing material from recycled sources.
Macy’s also encourages sustainable practices from our customers and our
suppliers. In fact, for the past two years, we have promoted our own program
called "Turn Over a
New Leaf" to offer green education and sustainability tips to our customers.
