Commuter Benefits
For employees in our NY City locations, we offer a commuter subsidy program. In conjunction with the NY City Metropolitan Transportation Association, employees can obtain 'transit checks' to assist with the cost of monthly commuting expenses. Over the course of a year, this benefit can result in hundreds of dollars in savings towards commuting expenses.

Recognizing Our Success

There's no such thing as an ordinary day in retailing. So it's no surprise that our associates occasionally encounter unusual situations that require them to be moved to action ... to produce results ... and to make a contribution at an extraordinary level. Whether it's working under an impossibly tight deadline, making a particularly tough decision, or handling a delicate customer issue, our people are challenged and empowered to draw on their knowledge and experience to satisfy the customer and make our company succeed. We believe outstanding work should be rewarded.

To show our gratitude and appreciation, we've developed recognition programs that celebrate and reward exceptional work and strengthen the bond of loyalty between company and associate. These awards are not only a token of our respect for your work, they are an acknowledgement of extraordinary contributions.

The following is a snapshot of our recognition program, including some of the ways we spotlight the accomplishments of our associates.

• Each year, our stores hold four employee recognition weeks to celebrate achievement and success. Each store develops its own program for that week.

• Bloomingdale's conducts Quarterly Awards events to celebrate its best of the best.

  • "B the Best Buying Team" recognizes the buying team (buyer, planner and assistant buyer) who had the best statistical sales performance for the period.

  • "B the Best Support Team" honors individual or team results that exceeded expectations and contributed to the business in a positive way.

  • "B the Best Sales Associate" recognizes one sales associate per group manager based on service, credit and sales scores.

  • "B the Best Sales Support Associate" recognizes one sales support associate per group manager based on service, credit and performance scores.

  • "The 100 Club" honors quarterly those departments with perfect 100% scores.

  • "Rookie of the Quarter" recognizes one sales and one sales support associate who demonstrate potential and have above-average service and performance scores.

  • "Who Made It Happen" awards individuals or teams at both the corporate and store-level that demonstrate unusual initiative or creativity, generate positive results or take action above and beyond requirements.

• Seasonal awards are given to recognize sustained high-producing employees. "The Golden B" is awarded to one sales support associate and up to three sales associates. The Golden B winners receive a recognition pin, an additional 10% discount for one year, lunch with the Regional Vice President/General Manager and name recognition on a perpetual plaque.

• Sales associates are recognized for their level of sales achievement for the year and can be inducted into one of three prestigious clubs - the General Manager's Club, the President's Club and the Chairman's Club. Winners receive a personalized gift and have their name posted at the associate entrance.

• The Best of the Best Award is the highest honor an employee can receive. Bloomingdale's selects buyers, planners and sales support executives along with employees throughout the stores that have the best results for the year. These employees participate in a two-day extravaganza (that has been compared to the Academy Awards) jam-packed with special events, lunches, cocktail parties, dinners and the awards ceremony.
