My contribution to Bloomingdale's is fostering relationships that are mutually beneficial and reciprocal. I have had the good fortune to work with so many talented and gifted people - the best in the industry. They have taught and inspired me. In turn, I hope I have been able to give inspiration and vision to others.

A good leader understands the feelings and needs of those around them. Leadership is not about directing a list of tasks or responsibilities. It has more to do with seeing the potential in others and revealing their unique abilities to them. The essence of management is helping others have the confidence and motivation to grow to their highest potential.
| How do you build your team to provide the best working environment? |
A team environment functions best when it is based on respect and courtesy for each individual. In addition, there must also be a unified vision and goal. In any group situation, the members bring a myriad of diverse skills and talent. It's important that each member feels motivated and inspired to develop his or her unique gifts as they relate to the overall goal. Once established, a wonderful by-product of this sort of synergy is camaraderie, friendship and mutual admiration.
| How does having a strong team foster the best shopping environment? |
Clients certainly feel the effects of a team's "esprit de corps." When your team is feeling great, they project positive energy. Customers benefit if associates feel that they are appropriately challenged, recognized for their successes, and appreciated. The end result of creating this type of environment is a strong team of committed professionals.
| How do you set the example for your team? |
A manager directs the destiny of her team through her values. These are not conveyed by what she says or tells them. The very best teaching tool is her behavior. It is essential to always act in the manner that you want your team to emulate because that is exactly what they will do.
| In the time you've spent with Bloomingdale's what has been your greatest accomplishment? |
If I had to identify just one achievement, I would say that building a great team of uncommonly committed professionals has been the most satisfying accomplishment for me. I learned that anything is possible. If you use your tools, your team, your creativity, your tenacity, your energy and believe it is attainable, it will be.
