Why did you join Macy's, Inc. and why have you stayed?

I had background experience in retail from when I grew up in South America, and I think Macy's, Inc. is a great company to work for. The management is great and there are lots of opportunities to grow. You can build a good relationship with customers, and it's a great working environment.

What do you enjoy most about what you do and what are your overall job responsibilities?

I like helping customers and building good relationships so they keep coming back and shopping in my area. Building a loyal customer base is my main responsibility and goal.

What contribution do you make to your division and how do you feel you make a difference?

I am a loyal employee. I have a good work ethic. I take full responsibility for my department, and I take care of my department and my customers with a lot of pride. My productivity speaks for the way I work. I also get along with all of my co-workers; we work as a team. My department has a great team of co-workers, and we respect and help each other.

What has been your most memorable moment since joining the company?

Macy's, Inc. has helped me achieve my personal goal - to be a very successful salesperson. They helped me with anything I needed to achieve my goal. They helped me build a good clientele. That is what is always memorable to me.

How has the training you've received since joining the company benefited you?

I joined the company 24 years ago. It was really great training. Practice makes you better, and I'm kept informed of all new procedures and changes. My management keeps me very well-informed of everything that is going on.

Is community involvement important to you, have you been involved in any projects in your division and was this something you considered when joining the company?

We do Partners in Time and we help with the United Way drive. We collect food for the homeless. There are many activities going on and it is very important. Volunteering is something I used to do, and now I have the opportunity to continue through Macy's.

What do you like best about your work environment?

I really enjoy my co-workers and the management. I love Macy's, Inc., and that's why I've been here 24 years. It feels like home, and they help you with anything you need.

What personal interests/hobbies do you have and how do you balance them with your work?

I belong to a group that does a lot of charity work. I also like skiing and walking. To balance those things with work, you just make the time. You have to learn to use your time wisely.

What advice would you give to a new associate joining the company? What helped you establish yourself and move ahead with your career goals?

I would say be yourself ... try to do your best. Come in with a good work ethic and take pride in your work. Communicate and ask questions if you need to, and do your best every day. There is not a better place to work. In fact, my daughter works for Macy's too.

What do you see in the future for Macy's, Inc.?

I think it will continue to be good. It is a good place to work. They are open to everybody, and they treat their employees and customers really well.
