I met executives from Bloomingdale's at a career fair. They were upbeat and positive which made me excited about interviewing with them. The interview process was professional and fun. The people I work with have kept me here with the company.
| What do you enjoy most about what you do and what are your overall job responsibilities? |
Working with different people everyday keeps my job enjoyable and rewarding. My responsibilities include scheduling, customer service, analyzing data and interviewing people for the department.
| What contribution do you make to your division and how do you feel you make a difference? |
Coming into work everyday and going above and beyond the expectations of my position are my greatest contributions. When you enjoy something, you do it well. It's fun being here. I never get tired of coming into work.
| How has the training you've received since joining the company benefited you? |
When I first started with the company, I participated in an eight-week training program. We learned how to deal with customers, how to use the registers and how to prepare for certain situations. Each day is a learning experience in retail because every day is different.
| Is community involvement important to you, have you been involved in any projects in your division and was this something you considered when joining the company? |
During the training program, we went to a homeless shelter. We've also been involved with the AIDS walk. My division, in general, is active in breast cancer awareness. We've had various events, and money gets donated from the vendors to the cause. There is always a high participation rate from our clients. I've been involved in community projects since high school so it was definitely something that I looked into.
| What do you like best about your work environment? |
Working with people who have the same interests as me. The bonds that you create over time with people that you work with are very special to me. Everyone is very friendly, and we have a family here.
| What personal interests/hobbies do you have and how do you balance them with your work? |
This company works with you in order to manage your time with hobbies, going to school or other personal interests. A lot of focus is put toward time management in the training classes. Over time, balancing work with other interests becomes easier.
| What advice would you give to a new associate joining the company? What helped you establish yourself and move ahead with your career goals? |
Be patient, polite, have respect for others and treat others the way you want to be treated. I eventually want to be in senior management on the operations side of Bloomingdale's. By continuing to work hard and learning from others I will ultimately reach my goals.
| What do you see in the future for Macy's, Inc.? |
The company will continue to open new branches ... to expand its reach. They will keep doing what they are doing as they have some of the greatest stores in the world.
