You’ll be responsible for protecting our Bloomingdale’s brand, our physical assets, our stores, and our associates with the industry’s best practices.

Job Overview: 


The Division Asset Protection Manager will drive Asset Protection and Risk Management programs in assigned stores to achieve their shortage and safety goals and therefore maximize profitability. The span of control is the Bloomingdale’s Outlet Store division. In this role you will be actively involved in the strategic planning, communication and analysis of Asset Protection and Risk Management initiatives aimed to protect our stores’ environments, assets, merchandise and internal/external customers. This individual will be charged with understanding and carrying out core competencies and initiatives to mitigate risk of loss due to shortage and safety issues/concerns. The ideal candidate must be highly creative and resourceful with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills are critical in this role; this position requires frequent communication with multiple teams and divisions including Outlet Store Management, Corporate Risk Management and Corporate Outlet teams. Our ideal candidate is proactive, curious, and willing to roll up their sleeves to pitch in and get the job done. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Leadership:

Responsible for managing the overall asset protection effort and shortage reduction programs within their assigned stores/units (Outlet Division).

Contribute to the development of Asset Protection programs. Provide direction and leadership in initiating these new programs.

Support all Risk Management programs and functions. Focus on reducing incidents and associated financial losses.

Directly responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing the credibility of the Asset Protection department.

Able to influence change necessary to deliver results that support organizational goals.

Able to make and stand behind decisions.

Demonstrate the ability to think “outside of the box” and take a risk with ideas, programs and people.

 

Supervision and Development:

Responsible for assisting the stores in the recruiting, training and managing Asset Protection Staff personnel. Develop competency in internal and external investigations, auditing, shortage reduction programs and system controls.

Responsible for enforcing the policies and standards of the Asset Protection department and company.

Responsible for evaluating the performance of all Asset Protection staff in partnership with store management.

Drive results by setting goals and objectives of staff, which are challenging, realistic and support company goals.

Demonstrate the ability to analyze situations, provide direction, and communicate expectations and coach to achieve desired results.


Developing Partnerships:

Build positive business relationships both within and outside of the organization.

Partner with Vice President/OVP in evaluating Store Manager accountability for the shortage program.

Participate in management meetings and working closely with them to ensure operational compliance with policies and practices.

Develop open lines of communication at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrates a willingness to listen and accept the opinion of others.

Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with others in mutual problem solving.

The ability to clearly state a point of view and stand behind that view with fact and expertise.

 

Administration and Technical Skills:

To ensure that store shortage reduction plans are site-specific, actionable, practical and measurable.

Manage and maintain the physical security controls and systems in all assigned locations. Systems include CCTV, Alarms, and EAS systems.

Manage Internal and External investigation programs targeting reduction of theft and fraud activities.

Ensures the completion of audits, has the ability to analyze results and develop strategies that impact operational efficiencies and shortage exposures.

Demonstrate the ability to forecast and future needs and expenditures and communicate these needs accordingly.

Able to effectively handle multiple tasks and projects through to successful conclusion

Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience

           

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

4+ years of experience in managing retail loss prevention operations.

Proven track record of profit improvement through shortage reduction and improvement in store safety practices.

 

Communication Skills:

           

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to develop and decipher instructional documents

 

Mathematical Skills:            


Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

 

Reasoning Ability:   

 

Develop and execute plans and strategies quickly, capitalizing on momentum and incremental progress

Strong problem solving skills and ability to resolve issues and present findings

Ability to summarize and present complex findings in a clear, concise and timely manner

 

Physical Demands:  

 

This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting, hearing, and talking.

May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

• May involve moving or lifting items under 20 pounds.

 

Other Skills:

 

Significant experience in conducting and managing Internal and External investigations programs.

Proven track record of profit improvement through shortage reduction and improvement in store safety practices.

Strong experience in conducting and managing internal and external investigations programs.

Experience and knowledge of current security technology, CCTV, EAS and alarms.

Organizational and event management skills. Ability to multitask multiple priorities or projects at any given time

Keen sense of trends and industry knowledge

Ability to build authentic, respectful, trusting relationships that fuel and support accomplishment of team and individual goals

Collaborator who openly invites questions and challenges as a catalyst for improved outcomes
