Job Overview:

 

The Stylist is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, assertive and fashion-engaged seller whose objective is to help customers build their personal style. The Stylist works both by appointment and with walk-in customers and must move with flexibility from customer to customer to maximize his/her volume. When not with appointments or walk-ins, the Stylist is expected to connect with and assist unattended customers on the floor.  The Stylist invests time to develop a clientele and drive business through repeat visits... The Stylist sells with confidence throughout the store and offers a level of service that makes the customer experience easy and personal, motivating repeat visits.   Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

All hourly associates are eligible to receive a quarterly bonus incentive, colleague discounts and the opportunity to be a part of an iconic brand. Certain criteria must be met to receive the quarterly bonus incentive.

 

Essential Functions:
MAKE THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EASY AND PERSONAL 

 

• Offers a friendly greeting to all customers; put customers quickly at ease

• Is customer centric and skilled at determining the most effective approach with each customer

• Connects with customer and asks questions to determine his/her profile, needs and wants

• Collaborates with the customer as a partner in creating his/her style; builds comfort and trust

• Takes pride in store presentation; cleans up after sales/appointments and maintain floor standards 

• Expectation: achieve store NPS goal

 

SELL THE PRODUCT

 

• Manages customer interactions appropriately for both pre-booked appointments and walk in customers.

 

Appointments

-  Reviews customer profile

-  Pre-pull appropriately according to that profile

-  Confirms appointment in advance

-  Consults with customer when he/she arrives to confirm understanding of profile, price point and goals 

- Follows up to ensure satisfaction and offer additional style guidance/information  

 

Walk in

- Consults with customer to determine profile, price point and goals

- Pulls product according to that profile

- Follows up to ensure satisfaction and offer additional style guidance/information

 

• Executes the selling interaction according to the Stylist selling and wardrobe build standards: # of pieces pulled, fitting room set up, use of accessories to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

• Is an expert on product and style, and sells with a confident fashion voice:  

-       Pursues education by reading magazines, blogs, social networking sites, and attending Stylist and selling training sessions

-       Is a pacesetter in pop culture & trend spotting; able to translate assortment to reflect trends 

-       Understands competitive assortments; provides ground intelligence to manager

• Actively uses styling and selling technology to deliver the customer experience and drive sales (technology current includes b-connected, mobile POS, Salesfloor, and appointment scheduling tools).

• Expectation: achieve personal sales goal. 

 

SELL LOYALIST 

 

• Sells the Bloomingdale’s Loyallist Charge Card as the best way to shop at Bloomingdale’s

-       Informs every customer of benefits of Loyallist program

-       Offers to Redeem Loyallist Rewards

• Leverages Loyallist to build a clientele: follows up with new accounts to thank them for opening an account, makes sure they receive charge card, and to offer future service.

• Maximizes Loyallist enrollment when customer does not want the credit card. 

• Expectation: achieve Loyallist application goals.   

 

BUILD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS 

 

• Develops a personal following to drive incremental business  

-       Steadily grows # of clients and average client volume over time 

-       Prioritizes the development of 4+ visit clients

-       Cultivates referrals 

• Actively uses b-connected client book to manage follow up and target outreach.

• Expectation: achieve client sales goals.


BUILD INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS 

• Maintains positive working relationships throughout the store. 

• Collaborates with other associates and managers to provide the best customer experience.

• Takes a leadership role in the fashion and style education of sellers in the store. Is a source of knowledge and information and a resource for support in improving selling and service skills.

• Demonstrates the agility and flexibility to execute both walk in clients and booked appointments

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:                

• 3-5 years in a customer service role.

 

Communication Skills:

• Able to converse comfortably in English. 

• Able to explain complicated transactions and articulate promotional offers.

 

Mathematical Skills:   

• Can handle complicated transactions, do quick basic arithmetic and retail math.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

• Able to problem solve customer issues.

 

Physical Demands: 

• This position involves regular sitting, walking and standing for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.

• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time. 

• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

• May involve moving or lifting items of 5-10 pounds at a time.

 

Other Skills:

• Able to use selling technology such as registers and mobile devices.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

 

Work Hours: 

• Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours, which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays.
